“Don’t Divorce Us” by Courage Campaign and Regina Spektor
The Campaign asked gay couples who were married legally before Prop 8’s passage to send in a photo of themselves with these simple words: “Don’t Divorce Us”. The response was overwhelming, and at the suggestion of a supporter, the Campaign reached out to anti-folk goddess Regina Spektor to ask if they could use her song “Fidelity” in the campaign, to which “she enthusiastically agreed.” Spektor and EMI granted their permission and the result is the moving portrait that you see above.
